On January 24th, 2024 we start the new year with a new edition of our Stammtisch / round table: mensch.digital (It’s not rocket science!). The Stammtisch will take place on the last Wednesday of the month at 6 PM in the Triangel. In the next six months. Over the next 6 months, the two topic blocks 1) Personalization and Adaptive Systems and 2) Human and AI will be discussed alternately. 

The first session will focus on personalization and adaptive systems in the context of ChatGPT-based assistants. More and more tasks in everyday life, while studying or at work are being supported by AI-based assistants such as ChatGPT. In addition to all the advantages that the use of such AI assistants brings, there are also some negative effects on us humans, including on our cognitive processes and abilities. In a recent experimental study by h-lab, the effects of AI assistants on our cognition were examined using eye tracking technology. As part of the get-together, we will present the results of the study in more detail and jointly explore possible adaptation strategies to avoid negative effects.
