Christian Boos, Global VP and Head of Sustainability Innovation at SAP and Prof. Alexander Mädche signed a research collaboration agreement on human-centered AI for sustainable business on March 18th 2025. The collaboration focuses on designing human-centered AI-based assistants supporting sustainability professionals in their daily work to protect our planet while driving efficient businesses. As part of the collaboration multiple design science research cycles are performed. This includes collecting real-world human needs and requirements from sustainability experts, articulating design principles, instantiating artifacts in the form of software prototypes, as well as performing evaluation in the field with sustainability professionals. SAP and KIT are jointly mentoring PhD projects and further student projects to achieve relevant and rigor research results in the form of scientific publications as well as innovative software artifacts leveraging SAP technology. Prime contacts for driving those efforts are Dr. Julia Seitz (KIT) and Dr. Norbert Koppenhagen (SAP). Anna Sommer will engage as Phd student and Linus Bierhoff as junior researcher in this collaboration.
